A wild, contemporary home is amongst the freshest faces in the Hollywood hills, the Nakahouse LA by XTEN Architecture. This angular, black-and-white design features terraced patios and private balconies on all of its levels, providing sweeping views of the hills above and the valley below.
Where the Gulf of St. Lawrence meets the Atlantic, the island of Fogo is a rare gem of global geography. Rock meets water, frost meets grass and the surrounding mists provide little evidence of a barrier between sky and sea. The architects at Bent René Synnevåg laid claim to a section of the island in this structure, one of the most progressive works of architecture in modern Newfoundland. This sharp, angular abode rises above craggy rock and angry surf, a duo that meet to form one of Canada’s most barren-yet-beautiful landscapes. In every direction, a new and unique landscape meets its visitors eye, a panorama of land that appears almost alien to its very lucky guests.
The Fish House, located in Singapore, was designed by Guz Architects to feel at one with nature. The luxurious home features natural ventilation for Singapore’s hot and humid climate, a green roof with thin bendable photovoltaic panels that supply energy to the whole house, and large windows. The undulation of the curved roof mimics the ocean waves.
